Takeru didn’t sound happy, either. With alcohol influencing his emotions—be them love, hate, arousal, anger—they were a little on overdrive. If he was mad, then he was really mad. “What I’ve done? Who do you think you’re kidding? This is your mess, Daisuke! How many times do you think I asked you about hiding something, huh? I wouldn’t…” Takeru shook his head. “Ken’s my friend, too. A really, really good friend! If I had known there was something between you guys, I wouldn’t have ever agreed to what you proposed to me just now, no matter how wasted I was!”
Even Takeru felt pretty betrayed. What happened on Christmas was one thing—even playing Seven Minutes in Heaven was another—but things had gotten too far. For a moment, he even thought that Daisuke might have actually liked him. Now that was stupid. Takeru was just glad that he didn’t start getting real feelings for Daisuke like he inevitably might have had this continued, or this would have all ended up being even more fucked up.
“…I’m going to apologize to Ken first chance I get tomorrow. As for you, Daisuke,” Takeru started, turning around so he could grab his shirt and probably leave before he might throw up on Nene’s carpet, “you need to get your priorities straight.”
Takeru was right. About everything. And that only made Daisuke more upset. Like Daisuke had said before, he was Mr. Perfect. He couldn’t handle being here anymore. In this house, with these people, all these eyes watching him, judging him all the time. He could never run from their eyes. They’d always know what he’s done and what he’ll do.
“You know what?” He started, his voice now sounding care-free. He was angry, and still a little tipsy, but he just stopped caring entirely. “Fuck you. You wanted that, too. I wasn’t the only one in there, trust me. Don’t give me your bullshit on getting my priorities straight, maybe you should. Maybe you should go tell Hikari what happened and we’ll see how well that works out for you.”
He turned on his heel and began walking back in the direction he was headed in before, then it turned into a light jog until he was full out running down the halls.
Takeru froze a little in his steps at that, but he didn’t say anything—didn’t argue back against Daisuke. Just let him leave. Daisuke’s words really stung, because they were true. When it came to Hikari, Takeru wasn’t perfect at all. He had a lot of insecurities—too many.
About Hikari… I’m afraid. If she were to reject me, I just couldn’t stand it. I value our friendship too much to risk anything. I still don’t understand if she feels the same way. That’s why I…
There was too much to lose if things didn’t work out with Hikari—and that’s why Takeru shied away from it. Distracted himself, even. Always plagued by wondering if he should selfishly pursue her or leave what he worried might be a more fragile relationship than he thought. What if things could only go down from from being together with her? A good relationship can only last so long sometimes. The thought simply troubled him too much. But how long could he dwell on someone who was too important to lose?
When things happened between Daisuke and himself, he had certainly felt guilty about it, but he shoved those thoughts in the back of his mind. Hikari and I aren’t a couple, he had told himself. In that case, it made it okay to indulge a little in selfish pleasures, right? Maybe he could even move past Hikari and eventually become completely content with what their friendship already was. With Daisuke of all people… Man, what the hell was I thinking? I’m such an idiot.
Takeru tugged his shirt on as soon as he found it on the ground, heading to Nene’s kitchen and scribbling a note down on a small piece of paper before deciding to leave. At this point right now, it was probably for the best.
Sorry I left—there was an important emergency. I hope you all like the presents I got you. Happy Holidays.

Aww, all those baby digimon are adorable but that Tokomon looks ready to eat you, Takeru.
Haha, he just gets jealous easily! But it’s hard to ignore all of the cute baby Digimon…
You’re familiar with Primary Village too, aren’t you, Ken?](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxtinm5xtx1r7vvrfo1_500.jpg)
